comk is a web-based comic creation tool inspired by bitsy. It uses intentional constraints — 8 panels, a limited palette, a fixed canvas — to make comic creation fast, focused, and portable.
comk collects anonymous usage analytics via Firebase Analytics. No personal information is collected. The data includes page visits, actions taken (new comic, save, export, share), and which palette was selected. This is used only to understand how the app is used and to guide future development.
Your artwork stays on your device unless you explicitly use the Share feature, which stores your comic in Firebase Firestore and makes it accessible to anyone with the link.
The creator of comk sucks at web development. comk was created with a lot of coding help from AI, but all ideas, choices, inspiration, references, and thoughts came from me (a human). As a professional software engineer I have found that it is, ironically, necessary to become proficient in working with AI in order to avoid AI completely taking my job.
Huge thanks to the talented people from whom I've drawn inspiration to create this. This idea would not have come to me without the creation and documentation of bitsy by adam le doux. Additionally, my Riso-inspired color palette is a slightly modified-for-web palette using the colors used by one of my favorite illustrators, Natalie Andrewson.
